Early Paint Ore Operations
In June 1889, Gideon Rehrig of East Penn Township leased property to the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Company. This land adjoined the lands of Josiah Andreas, John Balliet Estate, John Riegel, James Long, Penrose George, and Henry Bowman, and included Stony Hill, which contained 113 acres for the purpose of "mining and taking thereof all metallic and mineral paint ore".

The Semmels of Ashfield Penna
A tract of 16 acres, previously owned by John Balliet and purchased by Henry Bowman in August 1873, was bordered by the property of John Tipler, and the late Stephen Balliet along the Lizard Creek. In August 1890, Lovina Bowman widow of Henry Bowman, distributed the lands to her sons, Fulton, Maurice, Rodger, and Victor.
Gideon and Susanna Rehrig rented the railroad right-of-way, which amounted to 1.22 acres in 1890. The property included a siding and adjoined the land of Amanda Balliet.

In several places he is listed as a Civil War Veteran, but so far I have not found any documentation.
